Updates from the City of West Sacramento:

• The City of West Sacramento has proclaimed a local state of emergency today, March 16, 2020 to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health threat.  This proclamation allows the City to streamline the process of obtaining resources in the form of funding, mutual aid, and operations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
• It was also announced today that City Hall, the Recreation Center, Community Center and related programs are now closed to the public through at least Monday, April 13.  Non-essential City staff in those buildings will be telecommuting or on leave during this time.
• The City’s core public services will not be affected and will continue, including police and fire services, operations and maintenance of critical infrastructure (sewer and water), garbage and recycling services, limited parks maintenance, and management of the City’s emergency operations center.
• For more information about building permitting and inspection activity during this time, email your staff contact in the Community Development Department or call (916) 617-4645.
• Individuals doing business with the City are encouraged to do so remotely, by phone, email, and online.
• Here’s how you can pay your utility bill online.  Bills due through at least April 10^th will not be subject to a late charge until 30 days after City Hall resumes normal business hours and water will not be shut off for non-payment.
• Here’s how you can report a problem to our public works maintenance and code enforcement divisions: West Sac Connect.
• The Arthur F. Turner Library, along with other Yolo County Libraries will be closed through April 5^th.

Updates on City Meetings:

• In an effort to accommodate social distancing, individuals may participate on any item of a public meeting agenda, including City Council, by emailing comments to clerk@ngskmc-eis.net prior to 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.  Your comments will be provided to the appropriate body.

Other Guidance:

The City of West Sacramento urges residents to continue following safety guidelines from the Yolo County Public Health office:

1. If you are sick, please stay home. You shouldn’t be wearing a mask but staying home. Don’t go to work. Most people will feel better after a few days using standard home treatments such as rest and drinking clear fluids like water.  If you have questions about how to care for yourself at home please call your provider.  Do not smoke or vape any products. 
2. There is a mask shortage. Masks are needed for those on the front line and our healthcare workers. The headlines you’ve seen concerning members of the public rushing to Costco and/or buying out local supplies is not recommended; it can actually make supplying first responders and medical personnel more difficult. For those who are sick, the decision to purchase and wear a mask should be made by your Primary Care Provider.
3. The more social distancing, the better. We want to cancel and eliminate as many non-essential gatherings as possible. The more the better. We are trying to protect, not only each other, but the elderly and our vulnerable populations. This includes making smart decisions about what to do at home.
